breath of life

Breath of Life

Leaves swirling 'round and 'round
Trunks straining for the earth
Thunder's accomplice bowing them
In unwilling reverence to the ground

Thunder returning for one last brutal bash
Rumblings rolling through the clouds
Out, out and to the distance
The sensing of an enemy retreating

A slow tip-tap from falling raindrops
Off heavily burdened leaves
Others tapping their tiny wet toes
Out my window on the tin eaves

An existence of steady calm returning
Moving on are thunder's boastings loud
And to this thirsty world are leaving
A gentle freshness...a breath of life

description

  • Late October last year, I was out in my study trying to find inspiration for an English assignment when we had a quick thunder storm. I'd been reading a lot of Robert Frost poems at the time, so this was what came to mind.
